Susan Monty
Susan Monty qualified as a solicitor in 1985 after studying law at Manchester University.
She initially practiced intellectual property litigation at Herbert Smith, and then broadened her litigation skills at DJ Freeman, where she specialised in commercial litigation and fraud. She was involved in Guinness No.2, and high profile Inland Revenue prosecutions.
Following a maternity break, during which time she lectured at Imperial College and helped set up a dot.com site for lawyers, she returned to practice in commercial fraud at the Serious Fraud Office as an investigative lawyer. She worked on high yield investment schemes and other high-value, complex frauds, liaising with major prosecuting agencies, both in the UK, (Customs and Excise, Fraud Squad, Inland Revenue, FSA) and abroad, (FBI, Interpol).
Since returning to private practice at Bankside Law she has been involved in a major multi-jurisdiction corporate defence fraud case arising out of the internet expansion.
