Bill Wilson
Bill Wilson is a Director of Bankside Law. Drawing on his previous experience as an Inspector with the Police and his subsequent extensive background defending all general criminal matters, Bill now specialises in defending Serious Crime and Serious Fraud cases. Bill trained at the nationally renowned specialist criminal firm Kingsley Napley. His background has furnished him with an excellent knowledge of forensics and the art of investigation. His deep-seated understanding of the investigatory process has enabled him repeatedly to prevent charges being brought by making effective representations at the early stages of investigations.
Bill has extensive experience defending individuals and corporate bodies within both the investigation and prosecution stages of allegations brought by a variety of different agencies, which have included the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) (formerly Customs and Excise and the Inland Revenue), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Police. Many of Bill’s cases have been extremely high profile, many having hit the headlines in the National Press and Television.

Bill’s work has included a number of murder cases, large scale conspiracies, high profile robberies, extremely high value money laundering, corruption and international drug trafficking. He also has experience defending in cases including terrorism, computer crime and airline ticketing frauds.
Bill is a Supervisor of the Specialist Fraud Panel and also of the General Criminal Contract. He was co-author with John Williams of the chapter in “Fraud: Law, Practice & Procedure” (Butterworths 2004) dealing with defending suspects during the interview process. He has also lectured to other professionals on the interview process. He is a member of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association (LCCSA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
