Health Care Professions Council Defence (HCPC Defence)

The HCPC is an umbrella regulator for a variety of Health Professionals. Currently it regulates 311,031 registrants and 16 professions which comprise:-

    Arts Therapists
    Biomedical Scientists
    Chiropodists / Podiatrists
    Clinical Scientists
    Dietitians
    Hearing Aid Dispensers
    Occupational Therapists
    Operating Department Practitioners
    Orthoptists
    Paramedics
    Physiotherapists
    Practitioner Psychologists
    Prosthetists/Orthotists
    Radiographers
    Social Workers in England
    Speech and Language Therapists.

At many of the disciplinary hearings affecting these professionals they are either absent or not represented. This will usually mean that the outcome is less favourable for the registrant than may otherwise have been the case. Engagement with the process and access to good, specialist advice is important to protect your rights, livelihood and career. Your professional association may provide assistance. If not, if your job or home is at risk sometimes motoring or household building or contents insurance may provide cover. Remember; if you do have valid cover with a legal expenses insurance policy you have freedom of choice as to which lawyer you instruct for these proceedings.

We have extensive experience of representing professionals in trouble. We have represented Arts Therapists, Clinical Scientists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Social Workers. John Williams was formerly a legal assessor at the HPC and is ranked in band 1 as a leading expert in the professional disciplinary field by Chambers, a leading legal directory. We receive instructions from a variety of defence professional associations and legal expenses insurers and are within a stones throw of the HCPC venue in Kennington. We can offer expert, efficient advice and representation to help you through what is a stressful and traumatic time. Don't wait until the case is referred to the Conduct Committee; early legal assistance at the Investigating Committee stage can prevent the case being referred to the Conduct Committee.
